Belen Gonzalez
Belen is a Yale Conservation Scholar, joining us this summer as a research intern focused on Central America. Belen is a second-year and peer mentor for the Yale Conservation Scholars program, and a Rising Senior at Fordham University Lincoln Center, double majoring in Environmental Studies and Political Science with a Peace and Justice Studies minor. Her academic journey is driven by a profound commitment to understanding the intricate connections between environmental sustainability and political frameworks. Specifically, her passion for environmental justice emerged early in her academic career, fueled by her desire to address the disproportionate impacts of environmental degradation on marginalized communities. Belen’s interdisciplinary approach to her studies allows her to explore the complex dynamics between environmental science and political decision-making. She plans on incorporating her Latin heritage and fluency in Spanish within her academic and professional occupations.
